Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking a Document Control Support specialist to assist the Document Control Team on complex construction projects. You will draw, design, read, and explain plans using AutoCAD and update associated electrical records and CAD drawings from field data.

The role involves maintaining site drawings for electrical, mechanical, and piping systems, managing the document repository, and coordinating with engineers to reflect field changes and close-out files in as-built documents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, design, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years as an AutoCAD designer or drafter, able to work independently; construction background preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Bluebeam and MS Office (Excel) required.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Draw, design, read, and explain construction plans using AutoCAD.
  • Update alleys: update electrical panel schedules in Excel and revise EasyPower models.
  • Review engineering changes and reflect updates in panel schedules and diagrams.
  • Maintain site plans and drawings for electrical, mechanical, and piping systems.
  • Manage a centralized document management system, both electronic and physical files.
  • Incorporate project close-out files into as-built documents and update CAD drawings from teams.
  • Collaborate with engineers to confirm and update plans; verify via field measurements.
  • Perform field audits and walkthroughs to ensure drawing accuracy.

Location: Fremont, California (On-site)

Role Overview

This position supports the Document Control Team during construction projects, which involve frequent changes and updates to building plans. The role focuses on drawing, designing, reading, and explaining plans within AutoCAD. The successful candidate will work independently with strong communication and organizational skills, supporting multiple stakeholders and managing reports from SharePoint.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draw, design, read, and explain construction and facility plans using AutoCAD.
  • Update electrical panel schedules in Excel and revise EasyPower electrical distribution models to reflect current field conditions.
  • Review engineering changes and incorporate updates into panel schedules, single-line diagrams, and related electrical records.
  • Maintain site plans and building drawings for electrical, mechanical, and piping systems, as well as evacuation and fire riser maps.
  • Manage a centralized document management system, including electronic and physical files.
  • Incorporate project close-out files into as-built documents and update CAD drawings from construction and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to confirm and update plans.
  • Perform field audits and walkthroughs to verify drawing accuracy and update drawings from field measurements.
  • Work with stakeholders to create detailed drawings from sketches, layouts, or notes.
  • Search file repositories and deliver requested information to stakeholders.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, design, or equivalent work experience in a similar field.

Experience: A minimum of two years of experience as an AutoCAD designer or drafter, including experience gained from college projects or internships, with the ability to work independently. A construction background is desired.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD is required. Candidates should have a working knowledge of Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Experience reading and interpreting architectural and engineering drawings is necessary. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Revit.
  • Experience using EasyPower software for electrical system modeling.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint or electronic document management systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, and panelboards.
