Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Surface Docking Spaceflight Hardware Systems Engineer to join the JETSII contract. You will plan and manage requirements, participate in life-cycle reviews, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure system integrity for spaceflight hardware.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering with 2–5 years of related aerospace experience, strong R&D and documentation skills, and experience with NASA lifecycle processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in space hardware engineering or similar field.
  • Experience with NASA/JSC flight hardware lifecycle, certification, and engineering processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across disciplines.
  • Knowledge of requirements management, verification/validation, design trades, risk analysis, and system analysis.
  • Ability to prepare written documents and present at meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, review, and maintain of requirements and verification plans.
  • Prepare materials for SRR, PDR, and CDR.
  • Identify risks and develop risk statements with responses.
  • Perform system-level architecture trade studies and analyses.
  • Use requirements management tools (DOORS/Cradle/Jama) for flow-downs and verification.
  • Create and manage requirements for projects and interfaces between subsystems.
  • Report progress to team lead and maintain NASA customer relationships.
  • PerformOther tasks as assigned.
