Job summary

Planet Group in Warren, Ohio is seeking a Dock Technician to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on loading dock systems, doors, and related building equipment. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and customer service, with a focus on reliability and on-time delivery.

You will follow OSHA rules, document work in CMMS, and collaborate with customers and subcontractors. A High School diploma and 3+ years of dock/door maintenance experience are expected.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Follow safety policies and OSHA regulations, including LOTO procedures and life-critical safety practices.
• Conduct routine shift rounds to inspect facility systems and equipment, identify deficiencies, and document equipment performance.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on dock systems and related equipment.
• Inspect and evaluate equipment by measuring operating characteristics such as speed, pressure, vacuum, and vibration.
• Replace expendable components including belts, hoses, filters, fluids, and lubricants.
• Service and maintain dock levelers, seals, bumpers, locks, and doors.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance including filter changes, condenser cleaning, oil changes, lubrication.
• Complete basic facility repairs such as painting, patching, minor plumbing, basic electrical, and lighting repairs.
• Complete required training related to confined space procedures, LOTO, and safety documentation.
• Document completed work, inspections, and findings within CMMS.
• Analyze maintenance findings and recommend updates to preventive maintenance schedules.
• Communicate with coworkers and customer personnel regarding work requests and status.
• Coordinate with subcontractors performing facility services when required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Site Manager.
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, procedures, and technical drawings.
• Accurately complete maintenance reports and correspondence.
• Use email and computerized work order systems effectively.
• Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, supervisors, and contractors.
• Present information clearly to employees and customer groups.

Dock Technician

Job Summary

In a safe, efficient, and professional manner, the Dock Technician performs preventive maintenance (PMs), troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial and industrial facility equipment, with a primary focus on loading docks, dock equipment, commercial doors, and related building systems. The technician demonstrates excellent communication skills, exceptional follow-through, and a commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and life-critical safety practices.
• Conduct routine "shift rounds" to inspect facility systems and equipment, identify deficiencies, and document equipment performance.
• Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on commercial and industrial facility equipment.
• Inspect and evaluate equipment by measuring operating characteristics such as:
