Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school Diploma or GED; experience preferred.
• 3 years’ experience in transportation or warehouse operations.
• Proven leadership experience in transportation or related industry is a strong asset.
• Advanced verbal communication skills (English and Spanish are assets).
• Strong computer proficiency: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, web-based applications, RF scanners; TMW experience is a strong asset.
• Knowledge of industry-related equipment, including forklifts, lift jacks, trailers, etc.

Responsibilities

• Supervise dock staff to ensure freight is unloaded and reloaded accurately and on schedule.
• Determine staffing levels based on freight requirements and arrange staff through external agencies if required.
• Ensure employees follow company rules, safety procedures, documentation, and performance expectations.
• Monitor incoming freight to schedule staff and arrange for special handling as needed.
• Operate and maintain material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Input bills into computer.
• Operate dock function within budgeted cost per cwt limits.
• Maintain a clean, orderly operation.
• Ensure freight is sorted and handled to prevent claims or misdirected shipments.
• Ensure dock workers maintain performance levels.
• Interact with customers and drivers professionally.
• Other duties as required.

Dock Manager

Dock manager is responsible for ensuring service to customers is met, and costs to the company are minimized through the scheduling of dock staff, loading and unloading of freight, pick-up and delivery of freight, managing claims, and updating records system.

How You’ll Help
