Job description

Job Description:

The employee must be willing and able to learn the operation of forklift trucks. The incumbent will learn how to unload bales of waste paper from trucks and railroad cars, and how waste paper will be stacked in the warehouse in an orderly manner. They will also learn how to load rolls of paper on trucks and railcars, and how to place or stack rolls of paper in the finished paper warehouse. Additionally, the incumbent will learn to maintain housekeeping in the warehouses.

Job Procedures and Requirements:
  1. Know and practice all applicable plant and department safety rules, and all job safety analysis (JSA's).
  2. Follow lock-out and operating procedures of the department as set forth in the Plants Operating Manual and JSA's.
  3. Immediately report any unsafe condition or defective equipment to your Supervisor.
  4. Immediately report any accidents to your Supervisor.
  5. Keep assigned areas and all work-related equipment clean and orderly at all times.
  6. Maintain a satisfactory level of housekeeping at the workstation.
  7. Read, write, use a computer, and read a tape measure.
  8. Learn to safely operate the Plant's Fork Lifts and Clamp Truck as a licensed mobile equipment operator. A valid driver's license is required.
  9. Perform all other duties as instructed by Loading/Unloading Supervisor and the Supply Chain Manager.
Additional Job Procedures and Requirements:
  1. Safely dispose of broken bands and bale wires, and cut wires protruding from bales of waste paper.
  2. Clean and sweep the warehouse and docks.
  3. Learn basic driving skills of the Forklift and Clamp Truck.
  4. Assist in entering paper roll and waste paper data into computers.
  5. Assist in loading and unloading trucks and railcars.
  6. Learn the various grades of Waste Paper and Finished Rolls of Paper.
  7. Learn to identify various contaminants in Waste Paper.
  8. Be available to work the 2nd shift.
  9. Maintain good performance and attendance, with no significant infractions in the last 36 months.

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on qualifications and experience.
