Job Summary
Chesapeake Yacht Club is seeking energetic, hardworking individuals to join our waterfront operations as a Dock Hand / Maintenance team member. This hands‑on role blends frontline member hospitality with daily marina upkeep, vessel handling, and light facility repair. As a key representative of our private, family‑oriented club, you will help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment across our docks, grounds, and club amenities.
Key Responsibilities
Waterfront & Marina Operations
- Safely catch, tie, and secure arriving and departing vessels, adjusting lines for tides and weather conditions.
- Operate the fuel dock and pump‑out stations safely, following environmental guidelines and club safety protocols (training provided).
- Provide exceptional hospitality, greeting members and guests with a professional, helpful attitude.
Facility Upkeep & Maintenance
- Perform daily cleaning and preparation of club facilities, including restrooms, restaurant areas, pool surroundings, and docks.
- Execute minor repairs involving basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, caulking, and general troubleshooting.
- Maintain grounds, garden beds, and outdoor spaces; ensure the maintenance shop, storage areas, and docks are clean, organized, and hazard‑free.
- Monitor and track inventory levels for cleaning supplies, paper goods, and building materials.
- Promptly identify maintenance issues, safety hazards, or repair needs and report them to the General Manager.
Event Logistics
- Assist with the setup, staging, and breakdown of club events, regattas, and private parties (tents, tables, chairs, staging).
- Collaborate with Food & Beverage and club staff to ensure all event spaces are pristine before and after functions.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Basic knowledge of boating, knot‑tying, and line handling is preferred, but willing to train candidates with a strong work ethic.
- Practical hands‑on experience with basic hand tools, minor plumbing, or carpentry.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, rain, wind).
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong communication skills, self‑motivation, and a team‑first mindset.
- Must have flexible availability to work weekends and holidays, as these are peak marina operational hours.
