Job summary

Acuity Inc. in Des Plaines, IL, is seeking a Traffic Clerk I to support daily distribution operations on-site. You will check in drivers, verify paperwork, and communicate load-readiness to the dock team, while assisting with shipment tracking and documentation.

In this role you will coordinate with RXO and the Transportation leadership, monitor routing in the RXO TMS, and help ensure on-time delivery and accurate loading sequences at the Des Plaines distribution center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0–2 years in transportation/logistics/DC ops preferred.
• Prior customer service experience preferred.
• Familiarity with TMS systems (RXO preferred).
• Strong admin and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills: print, scan, fax.
• Attention to detail and organization.

Responsibilities

• Check in drivers at dock window, verify paperwork, and report load-readiness.
• Walk the floor to inspect trailers and support timely departures.
• Perform checks to catch errors before trailers close and send reminders.
• Track shipments and provide status updates to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with RXO 4PL transportation team for routing.
• Enter routing information in RXO TMS per procedures.
• Log and route OSD claims to carrier or team for resolution.
• Ensure accuracy of BOL, pallet counts, packing slips.
• Coordinate dock scheduling to support production and outbound shipping.
• Maintain shipping materials supply (pallets, labels, packaging).
• Support shipment consolidation to reduce deliveries and improve CX.
• Assist with day-to-day communication between shifts and leadership.
