FedEx Freight, Inc in Joliet, IL seeks a Freight Handler for the dock area, performing freight movement to/from trailers in the 1700–2200 shift. Starting rate is $22.77 per hour with a pay range of $22.77–$26.64 hourly; benefits available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Lifts vary weights; can lift up to ~100 pounds and operate heavy doors.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight during shift.
• Work independently or as part of a team; dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment, including forklift and pallet jack.
• Verify documentation matches freight description using current systems.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Adhere to laws, regulations and company policies.
