Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers. Starting pay is $20.16 per hour with a 1600-2300 shift.

You will handle freight using a forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck, and verify corresponding documentation. Responsibilities include securing freight in trailers, repairing damaged freight when needed, and completing all required reports. Prior warehouse or forklift experience is preferred, and candidates must be at least 18 years

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience in warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift operations preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight up to 100 pounds and open trailer doors with up to 75 pounds of lift force.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Operate appropriate equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Verify freight documentation matches description.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when needed.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
