Job summary

Florida Department of Law Enforcement seeks a Crime Laboratory Technician to support the DNA Investigative Support Database, process specimens, and enter qualifying offender data into STaCS-DB. The role ensures compliance with FSQM and LAPM and communicates with law enforcement agencies.

You will issue rejection notices when needed, distribute collection kits, assist training and tours, and participate in quality assurance activities while upholding recordkeeping integrity and court-order

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus two years of work experience; college credits may substitute per policy.
• Applicant must have a valid driver license, ability to climb stairs, use ladders or step stools, and lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Comply with FSQM/LAPM standards and accreditation requirements.
• Enter qualifying offender information into STaCS-DB accurately and timely.
• Maintain specimen integrity at all times.
• Conduct analytical research to determine eligibility for state DNA database.
• Retrieve offender data using FCIC/NCIC and other systems (certification required).
• Make decisions on accepting DNA submissions in line with Florida statutes.
• Provide clear information verbally and in writing; document actions.
• Accurately enter offender information into STaCS-DB.
