Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring a Manager Engineering 2 to lead the DMSMS and ModSim teams, coordinating priorities across units and ensuring high-quality analyses for the Product Support EI&E organization. The position is full-time in office, located in San Diego, CA (preferred) or Palmdale, CA.

The role requires directing technical work, mentoring engineers, and shaping SOWs and proposals while traveling up to 25% and maintaining a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM and at least 9 years of related experience in DMSMS, ModSim and/or related fields, or 7 years with a Master’s degree.
• Must have an active Secret or higher clearance with recent background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain government Top Secret, SAP, and SCI clearance.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% and US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee DMSMS mitigations by suppliers in coordination with customer and management.
• Formally present technical status and solutions to leadership and customer.
• Act as CAM for DMSMS and ModSim work packages as needed.
• Support and shape proposal activities.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Engineering 2 (DMSMS [Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages] and ModSim [Modeling and Simulation] Manager) to join our diverse team of professionals. This leadership position will be full time in the office and located in San Diego, CA (preferred) or Palmdale, CA.

This role will support the Product Support EI&E (Engineering Integration and Execution) and lead the DMSMS and ModSim team and SOW (Statement of Work) execution. This role will be responsible for coordinating the priorities between multiple OU (Operating Units), ensuring high quality engineering analyses, talent development and management, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and CAM (Control Account Manager) duties for both teams. The DMSMS team is responsible for proactive monitoring and mitigation of obsolescence risks of the system and driving the program towards a predictable and manageable level of technical change and funding. The ModSim team is responsible for using advanced statistical analysis to integrate various factors that affect usage, deployment, fielding, and resupplying activities and project long-term requirements in order to achieve specific goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Product Support EI&E Director and OU Program Manager objectives

• Serve as the technical authority on DMSMS and ModSim

• Coordinate with other Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Field Support, and other functions as needed to ensure the teams generate high quality and technically sound analyses that drive leadership/customer action

• Manage suppliers to ensure high value technical work is performed and delivered

• Oversee the execution of DMSMS mitigations by suppliers in coordination with the customer and Business Management

• Formally present technical status and solutions to leadership and the customer

• Act as the CAM for DMSMS and ModSim work packages as needed

• Support and shape proposal activities

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM field (Science Technology Engineering Math) and at least 9 years of related experience in DMSMS, ModSim and or another related experience or 7 years with Master’s Degree in STEM

• Must have an active Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a government Top Secret, Special Access Program (SAP), and SCI clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company

• Willing and able to travel up to 25%

• US Citizenship is a requirement for employment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current active in-scope government Top Secret Clearance with S1 or V2 specialaccess

• Previous experience working with Contracts and/or Program Management

• Relevant experience in adjacent logistics support elements such as Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) & Maintenance Planning, Modeling & Simulation (ModSim), Support Equipment Engineering (SEE), Prognostics & Health Management (PHM), Supportable Low Observables (SLO), Obsolescence Management, Training & Training Systems, Technical Data, Support Hardware, Fleet & Field Support, and Product Support Management

• Previous experience driving process changes/improvements and leading multi-functional teams on complex tasks, with strong communication and presentation skills

• Demonstrated financial management skills including development and control of program budgets, schedules, Estimate at Complete (EAC), and the ability to recognize and capture program changes

• Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint

• Previous U.S. Military experience with operations and/or aircraft maintenance background

Primary Level Salary Range: $146,600.00 - $219,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
