Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems invites applications for the position of Manager Engineer, 2 (DMSMS and ModSim Manager). This full‑time leadership role is based in San Diego, CA (preferred) or Palmdale, CA.
Relocation assistance may be available.
Clearance required for start: Yes (Secret). Travel: Yes, up to 25% of the time.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Product Support EI&E Director and OU Program Manager objectives.
- Serve as technical authority on DMSMS and ModSim.
- Provide technical leadership, direction, and mentoring to engineering team members.
- Coordinate with other DMSMS and ModSim leaders across the company to ensure sharing and alignment of best practices.
- Maintain cognizance of shifting best practices, procedures, and USG guidance documents to generate opportunities and influence SOWs and ensure Northrop Grumman is a leader in the fields of DMSMS and ModSim.
- Coordinate with other Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Field Support, and other functions as needed to ensure the teams generate high quality and technically sound analyses that drive leadership/customer action.
- Manage suppliers to ensure high value technical work is performed and delivered.
- Oversee the execution of DMSMS mitigations by suppliers in coordination with the customer and Business Management.
- Formally present technical status and solutions to leadership and the customer.
- Act as the CAM for DMSMS and ModSim work packages as needed.
- Support and shape proposal activities.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and at least 9 years of related experience in DMSMS, ModSim, or a related area; or 7 years with a Master’s degree in a STEM field.
- Active Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government Top Secret, Special Access Program (SAP), and SCI clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time. U.S. citizenship is required for employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current active in-scope government Top Secret clearance with S1 or V2 special access.
- Previous experience working with contracts and/or program management.
- Relevant experience in adjacent logistics support elements such as Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) & Maintenance Planning, Modeling & Simulation (ModSim), Support Equipment Engineering (SEE), Prognostics & Health Management (PHM), Supportable Low Observables (SLO), Obsolescence Management, Training & Training Systems, Technical Data, Support Hardware, Fleet & Field Support, and Product Support Management.
- Experience driving process changes/improvements and leading multi‑functional teams on complex tasks, with strong communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated financial management skills including development and control of program budgets, schedules, Estimate at Complete (EAC), and the ability to recognize and capture program changes.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint.
- Previous U.S. military experience with operations and/or aircraft maintenance background.
Salary & Benefits
Base salary range: $146,600.00 – $219,800.00, depending on scope, responsibilities, experience, and education. Additional compensation may include overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long‑term incentives for suitable positions.
