Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Engineering 2 (DMSMS and ModSim Manager) to lead the DMSMS and ModSim team for Product Support EI&E. The role is full time, office‑based, and located in San Diego, CA (preferred) or Palmdale, CA.

This leadership position supports the Product Support EI&E Director and OU Program Manager, coordinates priorities across multiple Operating Units, ensures high‑quality engineering analyses, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and performs CAM duties for both teams. The DMSMS team monitors and mitigates obsolescence risks of the system, while the ModSim team uses advanced statistical analysis to integrate factors that affect usage, deployment, fielding, and resupplying. The Manager mentors the engineering team, manages suppliers, presents technical status to leadership and the customer, and shapes proposal activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Product Support EI&E Director and OU Program Manager objectives
  • Serve as the technical authority on DMSMS and ModSim
  • Provide technical leadership, direction, and mentoring to engineering team members
  • Coordinate with other DMSMS and ModSim leaders across the company to ensure sharing and alignment of best practices
  • Maintain cognizance of shifting best practices, procedures, and USG guidance documents to generate opportunities and influence SOWs
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Field Support, and other functions to produce high‑quality analyses that drive leadership/customer action
  • Manage suppliers to ensure high‑value technical work is performed and delivered
  • Oversee the execution of DMSMS mitigations by suppliers in coordination with the customer and Business Management
  • Formally present technical status and solutions to leadership and the customer
  • Act as the CAM for DMSMS and ModSim work packages as needed
  • Support and shape proposal activities
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and at least nine years of related experience in DMSMS, ModSim, or another related field, or seven years with a Master’s degree in STEM
  • Active Secret clearance (or higher) with a background investigation completed within the last six years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret, Special Access Program (SAP), and SCI clearance within a reasonable time as determined by the company
  • Willing and able to travel up to 25%
  • U.S. Citizenship required for employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current active in‑scope Top Secret clearance with S1 or V2 special access
  • Experience working with contracts and/or program management
  • Relevant experience in logistics support elements such as Logistics Support Analysis, Maintenance Planning, ModSim, SEE, PHM, SLO, Obsolescence Management, Training Systems, Technical Data, Support Hardware, Fleet & Field Support, and Product Support Management
  • Experience driving process changes/improvements and leading multi‑functional teams on complex tasks, with strong communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated financial management skills, including development and control of program budgets, schedules, Estimate at Complete (EAC), and ability to recognize and capture program changes
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint
  • Previous U.S. Military experience with operations and/or aircraft maintenance background
Salary & Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $146,600.00 – $219,800.00. The salary is based on the role’s scope and candidate experience, education, and skills.
