Job summary

Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Carlsbad, CA seeks an Assistant Director, DMPK to lead DMPK strategy across discovery to clinical development, acting as project representative under the Head of DMPK.

This individual-contributor role will combine science expertise with oversight of internal and CRO studies. The candidate will apply advanced MS technologies (LC-MS/MS, HRMS) and bioanalytical methods, guide data interpretation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable candidate

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences or related discipline with at least 5 years of industry experience.
• Hands-on experience with LC‑MS/MS, HRMS, metabolite identification and profiling.
• Experience with diverse bioanalytical sample preparation methodologies.
• Strong understanding of ADME across delivery routes, dosing, modalities, and conjugates.
• Excellent written and oral communication and ability to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute DMPK strategies for discovery through clinical stages.
• Provide technical leadership for CRO activities and data review.
• Translate complex data into development recommendations for candidate selection and IND/FIH.
• Support regulatory documentation and provide clear communication to stakeholders.
