Job summary

Ionis Pharmaceuticals in Carlsbad, CA, is seeking an Assistant Director, DMPK, to drive fit-for-purpose strategies across discovery to clinical development. You will apply expertise in LC-MS/MS, HRMS, and metabolite profiling to guide candidate selection, IND/FIH readiness, and later-stage programs.

The role combines hands-on science with oversight of internal labs and CROs, delivers data-driven development recommendations, and requires strong collaboration across project teams and regulatory

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences or a related discipline with at least 5 years of industry experience.
• Hands-on experience developing, qualifying, and applying bioanalytical and DMPK methods.
• Expertise in high-resolution mass spectrometry and metabolite identification.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of DMPK strategies for discovery through clinical-stage programs.
• Provide technical input on DMPK risks, study priorities, and CRO oversight.
• Oversee method development and validation for LC-MS/MS and HRMS analyses.
• Present data and recommendations to multidisciplinary teams and regulatory submissions.
