Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Engineer to drive Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly across robotics-oriented programs. You will apply GD&T to high‑precision components, collaborate with suppliers, and create CAD models in Creo to support new products and fixtures.

The role involves leading prototype builds, managing change processes, mentoring juniors, and improving design standards for scalable production.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of mechanical design and manufacturing engineering experience in robotics or related electromechanical systems.
• Expertise in DFM and DFA and tolerance analysis for precision mechanical systems.
• Experience designing for assembly, inspection, and automation in high-mix environments.
• Proficient with Creo and GD&T; experience with CMM and inspection tooling.

Responsibilities

• Drive DFM and DFA throughout the product lifecycle from R&D to production.
• Apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5) to high‑precision robotic components.
• Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to validate designs and optimize processes.
• Create and manage CAD models and drawings using Creo to support products and fixtures.
• Understand change management, BOMs, material dispositions, and change implementation.
• Lead prototype builds and design reviews with cross‑functional alignment.
• Support tooling and fixture development for repeatable manufacturing.
• Mentor junior engineers and propagate best practices.
• Continuously improve documentation and design standards for scalability.
