Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is seeking an Operations Manager for the Detector Microfabrication Facility (DMF) in the Fundamental Physics Directorate. You will direct DMF cleanroom operations, manage a team of engineers and technicians, and ensure process stability, safety, and compliance while enabling advanced superconducting microelectronics fabrication.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated excellence in leading disciplined operations at a research cleanroom facility.
• Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience in a science or engineering discipline.
• Experience fostering innovation while delivering to sponsors and projects.
• Experience in safety, quality and customer service.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage the DMF operations including cleanroom, tool suite, and metrology lab.
• Support user optimization of device fabrication while maintaining process stability and purity.
• Support strategic and financial planning for the DMF.
• Schedule and coordinate all work in the DMF.
• Manage online tool status portals and log tool usage and hours.
• Hire and manage the DMF core team and help build a staff of device scientists.
• Incorporate SLAC values and safety into the team’s culture.
• Coordinate with external resources to augment DMF staff when needed.
• Ensure all DMF operations comply with SLAC, Stanford, and Government requirements.
