Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, based in Menlo Park, CA, seeks a Deputy Associate Lab Director for Operations (DALD/Ops) to lead the SSRL Directorate’s operational vision. You will interface with customers, regulators, and vendors to advance programs and ensure safe, reliable facilities for user operations.

The role requires a track record in large-scale operations leadership, strategic planning, and cross-institution collaboration, with a focus on safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• MS degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline.
• Proven leadership of disciplined operations at a >$10M scale.
• Experience in quality, safety and customer service.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with internal/external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, management, and strategic vision for disciplined operations in SLAC's SSRL Directorate.
• Lead implementation of Conduct of Engineering and Conduct of Project Management policies in SSRL.
• Represent SSRL on SLAC Operations and Projects committees and councils.
• Provide strategic leadership over SSRL work planning for projects and maintenance.
• Lead facility planning to ensure staff have space for operations.
• Lead SSRL emergency response planning for events and incidents.
• Build SLAC's values and safety into directorate work and culture.
• Collaborate with Stanford, DOE, and other labs to share best practices.
