Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park, CA, seeks an Operations Manager for the Detector Microfabrication Facility (DMF) to direct the DMF cleanroom and support technical systems, enabling superconducting microelectronics research.

You will hire and manage engineers and technicians, implement procedures, and ensure safety, quality, and collaboration with SLAC leadership and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience in a science or engineering discipline.
• Demonstrated excellence in leading disciplined operations at a research cleanroom.
• Experience in safety, quality and customer service.
• Ability to interact with senior management and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage the DMF operations: cleanroom, tool suite, metrology lab.
• Support optimization of device fabrication while maintaining process stability and purity.
• Lead strategic and financial planning for the DMF.
• Schedule and coordinate all DMF work.
• Manage DMF tool status portals and usage logging.
• Hire and manage the DMF core team and collaborate with Scientific Direction.
• Instill SLAC values and safety into DMF culture.
• Coordinate with external resources to augment DMF staff.
• Ensure compliance with SLAC, Stanford, and government requirements.
