Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory invites applications for the Facility Technician role in the Detector Microfabrication Facility (DMF) within the Fundamental Physics Directorate. The technician will inspect, operate, and maintain water and vacuum systems and assist with a diverse toolset used for superconducting microelectronics fabrication.

The DMF operates in an ISO-5 cleanroom with lithography, deposition, etch, and metrology tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or related field with 3 years of relevant experience.
Experience maintaining mechanical, vacuum, water, or semiconductor facility systems.
Ability to read procedures, manuals, drawings, schematics, and safety documentation.
Strong attention to detail and ownership mindset for assigned systems.
Experience in a cleanroom or controlled laboratory environment preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot facility systems and tools.
Collaborate with scientists and engineers on non-routine analyses and system design.
Provide troubleshooting and corrective actions for equipment and facilities.
Supervise technicians and staff within the group/project.
Develop training materials and safety guidelines for users.
