Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory's Detector Microfabrication Facility (DMF) in the Fundamental Physics Directorate seeks a Facility Technician to inspect, operate, and maintain water, vacuum, and facility systems to enable the fabrication of state-of-the-art superconducting microelectronics and to support SLAC’s scientific mission.

The DMF is an ISO-5 cleanroom with a dedicated toolset for R&D and at-scale production of superconducting devices and sensors.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience maintaining mechanical, vacuum, water, or facility systems.
• Ability to read procedures, manuals, drawings, and safety documents.
• Detail-oriented with ownership mindset for assigned systems.
• Experience in a cleanroom or controlled lab environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot water systems.
• Maintain vacuum systems including pumps, valves, gauges, seals.
• Support facility systems and utilities serving the cleanroom.
• Respond to equipment issues, gather data, identify causes, and take corrective actions.
• Help improve equipment reliability and spare-parts planning.
• Onsite work schedule and may require non-standard hours.
