MAC is seeking a Divisional Workforce Development Specialist to partner with field operations, coordinating onboarding, mentorship and leadership programs across assigned areas. You will spend substantial time in the field, collaborating with supervisors and operations leaders to align workforce development with business goals and safety standards.

Divisional Workforce Development Specialist
Position Summary

The Divisional Workforce Development Specialist serves as a field-based partner to operations leadership, helping employees build successful careers while supporting the division's workforce needs. This role is responsible for coordinating onboarding, mentorship, employee development programs, career pathways, leadership development initiatives, and workforce tracking systems across assigned areas.

The Divisional Workforce Development Specialist works directly with employees, supervisors, foremen, superintendents, managers, and divisional leadership to improve retention, strengthen culture, support workforce planning, and ensure employees have access to meaningful development opportunities throughout their careers.

This position spends significant time in the field and operates as a resource for operations by helping employees connect to training, career growth opportunities, and company programs while reinforcing Wiregrass Construction Company's Core Values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Employee Onboarding & Integration
  • Facilitate and support employee onboarding processes.
  • Assist new employees in understanding company expectations, culture, safety standards, and available career opportunities.
  • Coordinate mentor assignments for new hires.
  • Conduct regular follow-up conversations with new employees during their first 90 days.
  • Track onboarding progress and identify potential retention concerns early.
  • Partner with supervisors and operations leadership to address onboarding challenges.
  • Monitor mentor and mentee participation and progress.
  • Conduct scheduled check-ins with mentors and mentees.
  • Ensure completion of 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day mentorship milestones.
  • Track program participation, completion rates, and outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve mentor effectiveness and program results.
  • Promote awareness of career advancement opportunities throughout the company.
  • Assist employees in identifying development goals and career interests.
  • Support implementation of position-specific career pathways.
  • Coordinate workforce development initiatives designed to build future leaders.
  • Help employees access training, certifications, apprenticeship opportunities, and educational resources.
  • Encourage participation in development programs while supporting operational needs.
Leadership Development Support
  • Assist with administration and tracking of leadership development programs.
  • Support supervisors, foremen, superintendents, and managers in employee development efforts.
  • Help coordinate leadership training opportunities and development activities.
  • Promote accountability, communication, and professional leadership behaviors throughout the organization.
  • Encourage the development of future leaders at all levels of the company.
Workforce Analytics & Program Tracking
  • Maintain workforce development tracking systems and documentation.
  • Track participation, completion, and effectiveness of workforce development programs.
  • Generate reports and provide updates to divisional and corporate leadership.
  • Monitor workforce development metrics including retention, internal promotions, mentorship participation, training completion, and career progression.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for improvement through workforce data analysis.
Employee Engagement & Retention
  • Conduct employee check-ins, stay interviews, and workforce development conversations.
  • Serve as a resource for employees seeking guidance on development opportunities.
  • Identify retention risks and communicate concerns to leadership.
  • Assist with initiatives designed to improve employee engagement and career satisfaction.
  • Support efforts to strengthen workplace culture and employee experience.
Field Presence & Operational Partnership
  • Maintain a consistent presence in the field across assigned areas.
  • Build strong working relationships with employees and leadership teams.
  • Partner with operations leaders to understand workforce challenges and opportunities.
  • Provide workforce development support without creating unnecessary administrative burdens for operations.
  • Assist in implementing workforce initiatives that support business goals and operational success.

This role exists to make workforce development practical, visible, and valuable in the field while ensuring that Wiregrass Construction continues to build a strong pipeline of skilled employees and future leaders.
