The role manages budgeting, cost accounting, accounts payable/receivable, and forecasting while ensuring GAAP compliance. Highly skilled candidates with construction industry experience are encouraged to apply.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Must have 2–5 years of financial accounting experience, preferably with construction accounting.
• Must have previous experience in the construction industry; HVAC and Plumbing experience is favorable.
• Experience with Procore, Sage, Tableau, and Spitfire is strongly preferred.

Sobieski Enterprises, Inc. in Newark, DEis seeking to hire a full-time Controller to support Operating Divisions while managing all corporate financial reporting requirements. The successful Division Controller will support and improve organizational and business division decision-making by providing high quality and creative financial reporting, analysis, and guidance. This senior level position will provide leadership and oversight within the Accounting Department, ensuring company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles. Responsible for managing key accounting functions for the division, such as budgeting, cost accounting, general accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and forecasting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Grow financial performance through analysis of financial results, forecasts, variances, trends
• Understand the financial state of the business unit, and support upper management in their understanding of the same
• Utilize financial expertise to interpret key drivers of operational performance and support business unit leaders with strategic plan development
• Work with Division Manager and Operations Manager to ensure all costs and billings are accurate for analysis and reporting
• Accumulate job cost data including payroll reports, materials, equipment, and subcontractor billings to prepare monthly cost analysis; Utilize data to recommend areas for cost reduction
• Perform financial forecasting, reporting and operational metrics tracking
• Utilize financial data analysis to create revenue and forecast models, and to support management with financial decisions
• Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure business unit financial performance
• Prepare regular reviews of financial metrics and performance; Present results and recommendations to senior leadership and executives
• Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, recommend improvements
• Work closely with Corporate Accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Guide the cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures
• Oversee purchasing within the division
• Drive process improvements, including the creation of standard and ad-hoc reports and tools
• Stay abreast of the financial market specific to the construction industry to understand how to maximize profits

DIVISION CONTROLLER QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Must have 2–5 years of financial accounting experience, preferably with experience in construction accounting, cost accounting, CIP (Construction in Progress), or public accounting with construction clients.
• Must have previous experience in the construction industry; HVAC and Plumbing industry experience is highly favorable.
• Must have excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Experience with Procore, Sage, Tableau, and Spitfire is strongly preferred.
