Job summary

LHH is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting and finance activities for a growing construction operations division. This role partners with Division Management, Project Managers, and Senior Leadership to drive financial performance and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and project-based financial leadership within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Controller or Assistant Controller experience within construction, engineering, utility, infrastructure, or project-based services.
  • Strong knowledge of Construction Accounting, Job Costing, Percentage of Completion Accounting, WIP Reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior finance partner to Division Leadership, providing financial guidance and strategic insight.
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Job Cost Accounting.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and WIP schedules.
  • Analyze project profitability, cost trends, and operational performance metrics.
  • Partner with Project Managers to review cost reports, identify variances, and mitigate project risks.
  • Ensure timely and accurate project billing and support project closeout activities.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures.
  • Prepare financial reporting packages and presentations for executive leadership.
  • Lead annual budgeting and monthly forecasting processes.
  • Support cash flow management and working capital initiatives.
  • Oversee subcontractor compliance, including insurance certificates, lien waivers, and contract documentation.
  • Develop and mentor accounting staff while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

Position Summary

  • Base salary of $150,000 - $180,000
