Job summary

Colorado Parks and Wildlife seeks a District Wildlife Manager Trainee to enter a POST-certified academy and become a fully qualified Peace Officer. The role focuses on wildlife conservation, field operations, and future district leadership within CPW’s Field Services Unit.

Initial training covers law enforcement, wildlife management techniques, and community outreach, with a two-year post-assignment commitment expected in a CPW district.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications include 4 years of relevant biology/environmental science experience or a related biology-based degree with 4 years equivalent experience.
• Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications cover communication, customer service, leadership, public speaking, wildlife management, teamwork, outdoor safety, and a bachelor’s degree in a natural resources field.

Responsibilities

• Participate in POST training to achieve certification and become a Colorado Peace Officer.
• Communicate wildlife conservation information to stakeholders and conduct educational activities.
• Enforce wildlife laws and regulations under supervision and gain field experience.
• Assist with wildlife management techniques, habitat assessments, and data collection.
• Remain at the assigned district location for a minimum of two years.
