Job summary

Pawtucket School Department is seeking a Chief Academic Officer to drive districtwide academic strategy, oversee Teaching & Learning, and align curriculum, assessment, and professional learning across PSD. The CAO will partner with senior leaders to set priorities, ensure coherent instructional improvement, and translate vision into concrete actions across PreK‑12.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education or closely related field.
• RI District Administrator certification or eligible for certification.
• Significant leadership experience at school/district level.

Responsibilities

• Own and lead PSD’s districtwide academic strategy and ensure coherent alignment across Teaching & Learning.
• Lead the Office of Teaching & Learning and oversee Curriculum, MLL, Special Education, and Talent Development functions.
• Establish academic priorities, accountability framework, and cross‑functional operating routines.
• Partner with curriculum leadership to align HQCM, curriculum resources, and implementation infrastructure.
• Represent PSD in state/regional initiatives and communicate a clear academic vision.
