Job summary

Sandwich Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled Adaptive Physical Education Teacher to provide district-wide services for students with disabilities from PreK to 22 in Sandwich, MA.

The ideal candidate will hold a Massachusetts Educator Licensure in Physical Education, have a degree in PE, and experience with students with disabilities. Responsibilities include developing IEP-aligned APE goals, evaluating eligibility, and collaborating with families and staff to promote lifelong fitness.

Qualifications

• Degree in Physical Education from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Massachusetts Educator Licensure.
• Experience with students with disabilities and physical limitations.

Responsibilities

• Provide specially designed instruction in physical education based on IEP goals.
• Evaluate referred students for eligibility.
• Prepare written evaluation reports describing strengths, needs, performance, and recommendations.
• Develop and implement therapy plans for eligible students.
• Participate on IEP Teams with data and recommendations for motor needs.
• Develop and implement APE goals aligned with student needs.
• Consult with staff and parents on student progress.
• Address motor development, fitness, coordination, balance, mobility, endurance, strength, recreation.
• Support lifelong health, wellness, fitness, recreation.
• Monitor and report progress toward IEP goals.
• Maintain service delivery, assessment, progress monitoring, and documentation records.
