Job summary

May Center School for Autism and Developmental Disabilities in Wilmington, MA seeks a Physical Therapist & Adapted Physical Education (APE) Instructor for a full-time role. You will deliver consultative PT services, lead APE classes, and support students’ gross motor development, independence, safety, and overall well-being.

The role requires PT licensure, a PTA/APE background, and collaboration with educators and clinicians to implement individualized goals within IEPs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current state licensure and required national credentials as a Physical Therapist.
  • Experience conducting assessments and developing PT/APE or gross motor programming.
  • Knowledge of IEPs, progress reporting, and educational documentation.
  • Understanding of ABA-based practices or willingness to develop proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct formal and informal PT assessments and develop individualized goals and recommendations.
  • Provide consultative PT services based on student needs and schedules.
  • Design and lead APE classes with warm-ups, group activities, and gross motor instruction.
  • Collaborate with teachers and clinical team to integrate gross motor goals into IEPs.
  • Complete progress notes, evaluations, reports, and IEP documentation.
  • Train and provide ongoing consultation to staff implementing PT and APE programming.
  • Collaborate with nursing, educational, clinical, and allied health staff to adjust strategies and equipment.
