  • Monitor competitive activity and implement new sales techniques; report district results and rep proficiency.

Job description

Responsible for managing and directing a team of sales representatives to achieve sales and profit goals within a particular district. The ultimate goal is to maximize each sales representative’s ability to grow Orgill’s market share in his assigned territory.

Duties And Responsibilities
80% In the Field

Supervises and assists sales representatives to effectively identify sales opportunities within existing customers and to prospect for new customers. Coaches and trains sales reps on best practices in promoting and selling company products, programs, services and solutions in order to take advantage of those opportunities. Identifies areas where sales rep training is needed and uses the Orgill Learning Management system to assist in the development and implementation of the training. Takes steps to ensure that each sales rep is competent in the core categories which drive sales and improve dealer buy in. Works closely with the Business Development Manager to help reinforce collaboration with new account prospecting and development at the sales rep level.

10% Recruits

hired, manages, motivates, coaches, trains and develops staff according to company policies and employment laws and regulations. Ensures that all Orgill and Human Resources procedures are followed. Conducts periodic interviews to identify and start a dialogue with potential sales rep candidates.

10% Monitors

monitors competitive activity and develops and implements new sales techniques to take advantage of competitor weaknesses. Closely monitors account development to ensure adequate service and maximize sales potential. Reports district sales results and sales rep proficiency results on a regularly scheduled basis. Creates other reports on an as needed basis. Performs other duties as required to support the successful conduct of business. Deals directly with other Orgill departments to handle customer issues and maximize our service to the customer.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, vendors, sales representatives, and other Company employees by both oral and written forms, including spreadsheet and computer presentations.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement a range of sales and marketing programs.
  • Knowledge of the retail hardware, retail lumber and building material industry’s concepts, practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and abilities.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Frequent travel is required. (80% of time)
  • Should have 5 to 10 years of sales experience in the hardware and/or lumber and building material industry with at least 3 years of supervisory and/or training experience.
