Job summary

South Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a construction management professional to supervise field engineers and technicians, ensuring sampling, testing, and QA specifications are met. This role verifies contractor payments and project documentation, supports survey verification, and assists with contract administration and closeout.

The position may require travel, outdoor work in various weather, and attendance at preconstruction conferences.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and three (3) years of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
Physical requirements include sitting or standing for extended periods; travel may be required; outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.

Responsibilities

Verify construction activity is documented by field inspectors and engineers.
Verify quantities measured for payment to the contractor are accurate.
Assist with survey verification and contract administration.
Meet with contractors to discuss construction issues and resolve conflicts.
Attend preconstruction conferences and other meetings on behalf of DSPE and assist with miscellaneous office tasks.
