Job summary

Des Moines Public Schools seeks a dynamic Chief Operations Officer to lead the Operations department and drive vision, efficiency, and educational support through strong organizational leadership.

The COO will oversee multiple departments, coordinate capital projects, and report to the Superintendent, ensuring alignment with district goals and budgets. Experience in large systems and a PMP or related certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in operations management, education, business administration or related field.
• Five years supervisory experience.
• Five years experience implementing functions within large organizations.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight to key operational departments (custodial, facilities, maintenance, transportation, food & nutrition, security, warehouse).
• Coordinate long-range capital investment programs and construction projects with budgeting and scheduling.
• Lead cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency and support student outcomes.
