Job summary

The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) seeks a District Maintenance Manager for the Southeast Iowa district, based in Fairfield. You will provide strategic leadership for maintenance across four thousand twenty-eight lane miles, 20 counties, and a roughly $15 million annual budget.

Responsibilities include directing roadway and bridge maintenance, snow and ice operations, and emergency readiness while fostering a people-first culture and coordinating with internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field, and experience equal to six and one-half years of full-time management-level work in finance, human resources, engineering, law, data processing, or program research or evaluation.
• Ten and one-half years of full-time management-level work experience in finance, human resources, engineering, law, data processing, or program research or evaluation.
• All of the following (a and b): a. Six and one-half years of full-time management-level work experience in finance, human resources, engineering, law, data processing, or program research or evaluation; and b. A combination of a total of four years of education and full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for a large, complex transportation district in Southeast Iowa.
• Deliver people-first leadership and workforce excellence through hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Ensure high-quality, consistent maintenance operations including roadway/bridge maintenance and emergency operations.
• Steward resources by overseeing an annual maintenance budget around $15 million.
• Lead collaboration and maintain readiness with internal and external partners, including 24/7 operations.
