Job summary

Sylvania in Texas is seeking an accomplished district HR and student services leader to oversee staffing, compensation, benefits, and compliance, while directing student services programs including discipline, attendance, hearings, crisis response, and school climate.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's or Master’s in HR or educational administration and at least five years of progressive HR or public school administration experience, plus strong policy, data analysis, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in human resources, educational administration, or related field.
• 5 years of progressively responsible experience in human resources management or public school administration; 5 years supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of selection, training, and supervision of personnel.
• Knowledge of wage and salary, benefits, and performance appraisal administration.
• Knowledge of general and education employment law and hearing procedures.
• Ability to implement policy and procedures.
• Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and do word processing.
• Ability to manage budget and personnel.
• Excellent public relations, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, the school board, or other organizations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing plan for addressing HR training needs throughout the school district and develop training programs.
• Direct the day-to-day operations of the human resources department and evaluate operations and goals.
• Oversee performance appraisal systems and train supervisors in evaluations.
• Assist with selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of HR staff.
• Ensure district compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
• Provide leadership for student discipline, attendance, behavioral support systems, hearings, and school climate.
• Coordinate partnerships with families and community agencies to support student success.
• Forecast staffing needs and develop staffing plans; implement recruitment and retention strategies.
• Oversee compensation programs and leave/benefits administration.
