Job summary

Springfield Public Schools seeks a Financial Aid Advisor to support district-wide financial aid services for students and families. The FAA helps students complete FAFSA, CSS/FAFSA, verification, and school aid applications, and provides counseling to review aid awards and appeals. Evenings and some weekends are required; 7.5 hours per day, 52 weeks per year.

Salary is $43,650 to $57,737 per year. Bachelor’s degree preferred; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required to travel

Qualifications

• Experience in financial aid and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience in a youth development model and working with diverse populations.
• Knowledge of Springfield community is highly desired.
• Possess strong group facilitation skills.
• Ability to handle confidential matters and solve problems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with collaborative teams.
• Flexibility to work evenings and some weekends.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation between schools.

Responsibilities

• Ensure FAFSA, CSS/Financial Aid Profile, verification and school aid applications are completed and counseling provided on aid awards/appeals.
• Research and help students apply for scholarships.
• Verify student and parent data per federal criteria.
• Provide financial aid counseling and referrals to partner organizations.
• Support students facing financial crises and coordinate appropriate services.
• Maintain database systems and generate reports.
• Participate in annual training and professional organizations.
• Provide summer support to improve fall matriculation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
