Job summary

The District Environmental Manager with the Department of Transportation leads environmental reviews of transportation plans, guides policies, and supports safe construction practices to keep major projects moving forward.

You will oversee environmental analyses, manage waterway permitting, monitor district programs like MS4 and SEMP, and help shape stormwater policy and mitigation oversight. This is a full-time role with potential telework options and PA residency required.

Qualifications

• Seven years of professional planning experience in local, regional, or state planning including two years in a supervisory capacity
• Two years of experience as an Environmental Planning Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
• A Master's degree in planning or one of the environmental sciences and five years of professional planning experience, including two years in a supervisory capacity
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee environmental analyses and guide preparation of reports
• Coordinate waterway permitting activities and ensure permit requirements are met
• Monitor and improve district programs related to Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System and Strategic Environmental Management Program
• Help shape district policies for stormwater control measure design and maintenance
• Manage district commitments involving environmental mitigation and related inspections
