Job Description Summary
- Crew member essential to the application of asphalt/tack on highway/roadways/parking lots/driveways.
Requirements
- Operate asphalt distributor truck.
- Set spray bar on manual, automatic, or semi-automatic distributors for applying liquid asphalt.
- Physical ability to operate distributor and to perform manual labor as needed, such as shoveling or raking, under extreme temperatures and for extended hours of time. Normal shift is 8-12 hours.
- Ability to follow verbal instruction via crew foreman to assist in other positions if needed.
- Ability to apply liquid from distributor to designated area with attention to detail and emphasis on craftsmanship.
- Initiative to perform/assist with other positions for job completion.
- Ability to follow traffic control instructions and practice safety standards per company policy.
- May oil, grease, service and make normal operating adjustments to equipment.
- May perform other related duties such as shoveling, setting string line, and adding or removing screed extensions.
- Attendance required according to company attendance policy to ensure crew is able to operate at normal efficiency level.
- Attitude/Cooperation: Must always maintain a courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers, and public.
- Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work required. Out of town/county/state work may be required.
- Ability to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) policy and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition.
- Initiative to perform/assist with other positions for job completion.
- Must pass drug test and criminal background check.
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
- Commercial Driver’s License with hazmat endorsements required.
