Job Summary:
Responsible for transporting and relocating gasoline or diesel-powered tractor trailers from base to established destination(s).
Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:
Transport trailers at predetermined docks/yards
Refuel tractor and trailer(s) upon return to base and unhook trailer(s) at specified locations
Coordinate with 1stProcessing management on equipment prioritization and utilization
Inspect Yard Dog and Trailer for defects before and after shifts, submitting reports on their condition
Ensure safety processes are followed, including the proper use of load locks, straps, and bulkheads
Monitor fuel use and adjust reefer unit's fuel level and temperature as needed
Communicate with management regarding potential issues
Complete all functions in accordance with company standards, safety regulations, and quality standards
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned by 1stProcessing management
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of Yard Dog driving requirements preferred
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to work cross-functionally and within a team
Safe driving skills and ability to operate large tractor trailers
Availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Commercial Driver License or relevant driving experience required
Prior yard jockey experience preferred
Experience in manufacturing or the poultry industry is a plus
