Position Overview:

This hybrid role primarily involves operating a forklift, with occasional yard switcher duties. The operator will handle gasoline-, liquefied gas-, or electric-powered industrial equipment with lifting devices such as sit-down, stand-up, clamp, or other elevating equipment to move products, equipment, or materials within the distribution center or storage yard. The role also includes driving gasoline or diesel-powered tractors to transport and position trailers at loading docks or staging areas.

Schedule: Weekend shift — Friday to Sunday, 5:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Compensation: Attractive hourly rate of $23.50/hour plus a $3.00 night shift differential, with benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

Forklift Operator Duties:
  1. Load, unload, move, stock, and stage products and materials using powered industrial equipment.
  2. Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  3. Inspect assigned equipment daily.
  4. Operate all equipment safely and efficiently, following prescribed work methods and OSHA standards.
  5. Unload inbound shipments safely and move products to storage locations.
  6. Stack and store products efficiently in designated areas.
  7. Pull and prepare products for shipment, ensuring accuracy in quantities and types.
  8. Move products from staging or storage areas into rail cars, trailers, or containers.
  9. Ensure shipments are accurate and damage-free; report variances.
  10. Keep records and reports to maintain inventory control and security.
  11. Assist with physical inventories and stock rotation.
  12. Follow customer instructions to ensure load accuracy and safety.
  13. Coordinate with other departments such as Customer Service, Transportation, and Maintenance.
  14. Practice good housekeeping and clean as you go.
  15. Promote safety during operations and report unsafe conditions.
  16. Follow GMPs and report noncompliance.
  17. Observe safety rules and assist in enforcement.
  18. Other duties as assigned.
Yard Switcher Duties:
  1. Perform trailer movements by attaching drive units to trailers for loading/unloading.
  2. Inspect trailers and trucks for defects, including lights and tires; report conditions.
  3. Monitor refrigeration units and check temperatures if needed.
  4. Maintain orderly yard and documentation of trailer locations.
  5. Inspect trailers for cleanliness.
  6. Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
  7. Write routine reports and correspondence.
  8. Follow safety guidelines and company policies.
  9. Report noncompliance with GMPs.
  10. Observe and enforce safety rules.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED; three or more years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination.
  • Ability to successfully complete post-hire assessments.
  • Obtain and maintain necessary equipment certifications (e.g., OSHA).
  • Ability to wear PPE such as protective footwear, eyewear, gloves, etc., as per safety policies.
  • At least 1 year of verifiable experience.
  • Ability to operate yard trucks safely; forklift experience required. Class A CDL may be necessary.
