Distribution System Operator Apprentice (Distribution System Operator)

Position Overview

The individual in this role will plan, coordinate, and direct switching and tagging, issue clearances, monitor loads, and assist in emergency restoration for the electric distribution system on rotating shifts. Qualification to operate distribution SCADA devices is required. The role involves coordinating activities with CONVEX and other regions when system conditions cross jurisdictional lines. Rotating shifts are necessary.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, with two years of additional study in the electrical-technical field.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in the electrical utility sector.
• Ability to read and understand complex circuit diagrams.
• Basic computer skills and ability to work under high-stress conditions.
• Qualify as an Assistant Dispatcher within one year and perform dispatcher duties as needed.
• Strong analytical skills and availability for overtime during storms and emergencies.
• Successful completion of pre-employment SOPD Testing.

• Starting salary at $51.67, progressing per union contract.
