Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp. is seeking a Distribution Standards Engineer to provide technical expertise across the Utility footprint and collaborate with various corporate groups.

The role supports regulatory commitments and drives improvements in engineering standards and design practices. The ideal candidate will hold a BS in Engineering (ABET-accredited) with 3+ years of engineering experience, and proficiency in Excel, GISView, and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• Minimum of three (3) years of engineering work experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel; able to learn GISView and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Creating Engineering Practices, Material Specifications, Field Guides, and Construction Standards for distribution line projects.
• Analyzing standards and equipment issues and recommending solutions and alternate design options.
• Reviewing manufacturer drawings for compliance with specifications.
• Coordinating Working Groups of Distribution Engineering and Planning and Operating Company end users to confirm best practices are followed.
