Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Distribution Standards engineer to provide technical expertise across Distribution Engineering, Planning, and Operations. This role supports standards, design, and training materials, working with operating companies and stakeholders across the FE footprint.

The position emphasizes compliance, process improvements, and collaboration with industry groups. Reporting locations include Fairmont, WV; Akron, OH; and Greensburg, PA, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required.
• Minimum of three years' engineering work experience.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, and able to learn GISView and AutoCAD.
• Possess technical expertise with FirstEnergy Engineering, Design, Construction, Equipment Standards.
• Able to communicate findings and make practical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Creating Engineering Practices, Material Specifications, Field Guides, and Construction Standards for distribution line projects.
• Analyzing standards and equipment issues and recommending solutions and alternate design options.
• Reviewing manufacturer drawings for compliance with specifications.
• Coordinating Working Groups of Distribution Engineering and Planning and Operating Company end users to confirm best practices are being followed.
• Providing training materials with Operating Company and Work Force Development.
• Documenting proposed enhancements and implementation for Distribution Standards.
• Supporting department status calls andこう project updates.
• Championing adherence to established Distribution Standards.
