Job summary

FirstEnergy is seeking a Planning & Protection Engineer to provide technical expertise for the planning, protection, and reliability of Ohio's distribution systems. The role involves analyzing distribution networks, preparing protection specifications, and supporting operations and storm response.

Onsite reporting to a northern FE Ohio service center is possible. The candidate should have a BS in Electrical Engineering or related field, with PE license or ABET credibility as advantageous, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering / Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited institution is required.
• Professional Engineer license is a plus.
• Experience with electrical systems, operations, and maintenance practices is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform power system planning and analysis for distribution systems.
• Model distribution networks and calculate voltage drop and fault currents.
• Develop relay settings and protection studies for new capital projects.
• Prepare load study reports and capacity studies for new loads.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and support Distribution Control Center during operations and storms.
