Job summary

NiSource invites talented students to join its Summer Electric Distribution Planning Internship in Merrillville, IN for 12 weeks starting May 2027. You will work under supervision to gain hands-on experience in distribution planning, modeling, and project execution.

As an intern, you will collaborate with engineers, learn CYME modeling, and contribute to databases and studies that inform equipment configurations and project timing.

Qualifications

• Current student of an ABET-accredited four-year engineering program.
• Must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study.
• Ability to work 40 hrs/week and learn on the job.

Responsibilities

• Assist a Distribution Planning Engineer on daily tasks.
• Develop and update electric distribution system databases and studies.
• Use CYME modeling software to assess system adequacy.
• Review requests for new loads and distributed energy resources.
