Job summary

NiSource invites applications for a Summer Operations Intern as part of the NiSource Internship Program. The role, based in Merrillville, IN or Hammond, IN, runs for 12 weeks starting May 2027.

Applicants must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location and be enrolled in an accredited university. The internship includes exposure to Electric Planning, GIS Environmental, and Continuous Improvement activities.

Qualifications

• GPA of 3.0 or above is required.
• Majors in GIS, Engineering, Accounting, Operations Management, Business Management or related discipline are preferred.
• Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel required.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and root-cause analysis skills expected.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, development and implementation of the operations work plan.
• Collect data and generate reports to monitor programs and budgets.
• Support GIS Environmental tasks in Merrillville, IN or Columbus, OH as needed.
• Assist Transformation Office activities to help teams work smarter and more efficiently.
