Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Manager, Distribution (3rd Shift) in Lafayette, IN to supervise Warehouse Associates and Team Leads in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

You will manage daily workloads, oversee overtime decisions, and ensure timely material flow while driving Lean initiatives and CPS adherence. The role emphasizes leadership, shift management, and continuous improvement within the Product Support & Logistics Division.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
• Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to transmit, receive, and interpret ideas, information, and needs.
• Knowledge of planning and organizing tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize time and resources methodically.
• Knowledge of approaches and tools for recognizing, anticipating, and solving problems; ability to apply problem-solving skills to diverse situations.
• Knowledge of customer service concepts; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and provide excellent service.

Responsibilities

• Determine priorities of daily workload for value stream.
• Determine overtime needs and priorities when resources are limited.
• Manage employee hours through timekeeping systems.
• Ensure production meets safety, quality, velocity, and cost standards.
• Order and distribute necessary parts and materials promptly.
• Suggest changes to working conditions and equipment to increase efficiency.
• Improve processes to reduce costs by eliminating non-value-added activities.
• Ensure preventive maintenance is performed on schedule.
• Support CPS initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
