Job summary

Southern California Edison is hiring a Distribution Journeyman Lineman to install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground distribution systems across California. The role involves climbing poles, testing equipment, and working near energized lines with strict safety protocols.

You will collaborate with a team, mentor apprentices, and operate test equipment and construction vehicles as part of daily duties, contributing to reliable power delivery and public safety.

Qualifications

• Certified Journeyman Lineman and possess a Journeyman Lineman card.
• Weight under 285 pounds due to safety equipment.
• Valid Class A motor vehicle operator's license
• Experience working with utility poles (ascending/descending).

Responsibilities

• Installs, removes, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground distribution and communication systems.
• Installs and removes poles, cross arms, towers, enclosures, ducts and piping and electrical equipment including transformers, switches, capacitors, and protective devices.
• Installs, removes, splices, bonds, terminates, and tests conductor and cable (excluding paper insulated lead).
• Connects, tests, adjusts, repairs, and maintains electrical equipment and apparatus.
• Performs work on or near energized lines or equipment using safety procedures and proper tools.
• Operates test equipment such as meters and fault locators.
• Operates construction vehicles (up to 1,200 lbs.) and related auxiliaries.
• Collaborates with others, mentoring apprentices and helpers.
