Job summary

Duke Energy in North Carolina is hiring a Line Apprentice, with progression to Apprentice 3 or 4 based on experience as shown in the resume. You will learn to operate and maintain the distribution system, work with overhead and underground lines, and support outages and service to customers.

This role requires a valid CDL, willingness to work variable hours, and adherence to safety standards while building skills in field operations, tool usage, and records management.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid class A CDL is required.
• Experienced climber with distribution line work experience.
• Ability to work on or near energized equipment and in variable weather.
• Willingness to work day, night, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction and maintenance of the distribution system.
• Demonstrate understanding of overhead and underground insulation and isolation.
• Complete Line and Service Training modules.
• Promote personal and crew safety practices.
• Develop professional working relationships to coordinate tasks.
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication.
• Maintain accurate records and files.
• Represent the company positively and professionally.
