Job summary

Great Lakes Energy is seeking a focused Distribution System Operator I to monitor and operate the electric distribution system from the Boyne City office. The day shift supports reliability, outage restoration, and safe operations for our members in western and northern Michigan.

You'll work with SCADA, OMS, and AMI tools, coordinate with crews and engineers, and help keep outage records and system documentation up to date. Join a member-owned utility committed to community service.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in electrical utility field.
• Minimum of two years of related experience.
• Possession of or eligibility for system operator certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor system conditions and SCADA/OMS/AMI applications.
• Coordinate outages, switching orders with field crews.
• Dispatch field resources during outages or emergencies.
• Maintain operational documentation and procedures.
• Support outage restoration and fault location.
• Communicate with stakeholders to minimize service interruptions.
