Job summary

POWERX Distribution Engineer II is responsible for the engineering design, cost estimation, project coordination, and field inspection of electric power distribution projects. Responsibilities

• Design, estimate, and coordinate the construction of overhead and underground power distribution systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
• Lead and manage "Capital" and "O&M" projects through all phases of development, from concept to closeout.
• Identify and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve system reliability, cost efficiency, and safety.
• Prepare accurate project documentation, reports, and technical analyses.
• Maintain records related to project progress, cost, and compliance.

Job Summary

The Distribution Engineer II is responsible for the engineering design, cost estimation, project coordination, and field inspection of electric power distribution projects. This role supports other departments and delivers cost-effective, safe, and high-quality solutions for our clients, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Duties/Responsibilities

Engineering & Project Management

• Design, estimate, and coordinate the construction of overhead and underground power distribution systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
• Lead and manage "Capital" and "O&M" projects through all phases of development, from concept to closeout.
• Identify and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve system reliability, cost efficiency, and safety.

Safety & Quality

• Demonstrate a strong safety culture, consistently applying the highest standards for personal and team safety practices.
• Ensure his engineering work product meets internal quality standards and complies with regulatory guidelines.

Training and Development

• Continue developing interpreting and applying construction bulletins, standards, and engineering procedures.
• Stay current with evolving industry trends and participate in ongoing training and certification programs.

Field Inspection & Compliance

• Ensure his engineering work product meets internal quality standards and complies with regulatory guidelines.
• Participates during recommendations and engineering modifications which ensure system integrity and code adherence.

Research and Report Writing

• Prepare accurate project documentation, reports, and technical analyses.
• Maintain records related to project progress, cost, and compliance.

Client Relations and Support

• Serve as a primary technical contact for client stakeholders, ensuring responsiveness and technical excellence.
• Address client concerns with professionalism and provide clear, actionable solutions.
• Continue building and maintaining good client partnerships that support long‑term engagement and satisfaction.

Additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support the organization's goals and adapt to evolving business needs.

Attributes/Abilities

• Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
• Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of customer tools such as: JETS, GIS, SOCKET, TCMS & DistView.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, Distribution Bulletins, Engineering Handbook, Distribution Specifications, Distribution Operating Procedures, ARC Flash Requirements, Metering Blue Book & Franchise Manual.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or part of a team.
• Possess project management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Acrobat.

Experience And Education

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or General).
• 1-3 years of progressive engineering experience.
• EIT or PE license preferred.
• Technical skills and familiarity with industry standards.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work safely around electrical and mechanical hazards.
• Operates light measuring instruments.
• Potential minimum exposure to various conditions, including dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust.
• Requires field work in industrial environments.
• Ability and willingness to work occasional excess straight time as needed.
• May require travel 25% of the time.
