Job summary

AEP Texas Company, Inc. is seeking an entry level apprentice to assist in installing, maintaining, and inspecting electrical transmission and distribution facilities.

You will drive line trucks, respond to trouble calls, and work under supervision to gain hands-on experience. During the first six months you will demonstrate equipment operation and safe work practices, with progression to higher voltages and more independent tasks as you advance.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• No previous work experience required.
• Valid state driver license.
• Ability to lift 75 lbs and work up to 250 ft above ground.
• Line work experience or line school education is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, maintenance, and inspection of overhead and underground facilities.
• Assist with responding to trouble calls and support crews.
• Climb poles and structures and work from bucket trucks or ladders.
• Operate mechanized equipment and line trucks to install or remove components.
• Record data and complete reports as required and participate in training.
